DIY Easy Lotion Bars
I love making my homemade products. It’s a fun activity, saves me money and allows me to control the ingredients! It also saves waste and makes for excellent gifts!
This DIY easy lotion bar recipe is non-greasy and only requires 4 ingredients! Plus, they last a lot longer than traditional store-bought bottles of lotion. And with the ability to make it yourself at home, you’ll never run out!

Here’s what you need:
- 1/2 cup shea butter
- 1/2 cup cocoa butter
- 1/4 cup beeswax or Candelilla wax (for a vegan option!)
- Moulds
- Essential oils (optional)
Here’s what to do:
- In a double boiler on the stove, melt the shea butter, cocoa butter and wax of choice until combined
- Remove from heat and add in a few drops of essential oils, if using
- Pour evenly into the mould and let solidify (this may take 24 hours)
- Once set, remove and store in at room temp
To use rub the bar along the skin and then use your hands to apply evenly. Simple as that! If you plan to gift these or not use them for several weeks, store in an air-tight container at room temperature.
For the bars in use, keep them dry and store them away from humidity to avoid melting. The wax in the recipe makes these bars stable but not impossible to melt!
